Marianne Anderson, 80, of Frankford, Del., formerly of Aberdeen, Md., passed away on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020. She was born April 29, 1939, in Lich, Germany, daughter of the late Rudolf Weppler and the late Ottilia (Jakobi) Weppler.
Anderson had worked as a preschool teacher and eventually retired, in 1997, as the director of the Head Start Program for Baltimore County, Md.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ocean City, Md., and also of the Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234 Ladies Auxiliary in Ocean View, Del. She enjoyed knitting and was also a member of the Piecemakers Quilting Group. Anderson enjoyed time spent outdoors, gardening, taking long walks or visiting the beach. She was a fan of the arts, and she enjoyed going to the symphony, theater, concerts and the ballet.
In addition to her parents, Anderson was preceded in death by her first husband, the Maj. Ralph C. Wight Jr., in 1968; her second husband, Robert L. Anderson, in 2014; and a stepson, Robert E. Anderson, in 2019. She is survived by a son, Michael Wight of Frankford; a daughter, Karen A. McFarland of Essex, Md.; a stepson, Brett A. Anderson and his wife, Rebecca, of Aberdeen; a daughter-in-law, Melody Anderson of Rising Sun, Md.; a granddaughter, Caroline Joy Anderson; and a brother, Rolf Weppler of Lich, Germany.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 10301 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, Md., with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at noon at Morningside Cemetery, 1865 Bee Line Highway, Dubois, Pa.
