Ann Carol Irwin, 86, of West Fenwick, Del., passed away on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, at home. She was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late Edwin James Sr. and Mary Cuddy Rhoades. She was the beloved wife of the late William Irwin.
Irwin graduated from Seton High in 1951 and continued her participation in the Seton High Alumni luncheons for several years after graduation. In 1999, she and her husband moved to Bayview Estates near Fenwick Island. Irwin immediately embraced her new community and quickly established many long-term friendships with the local residents, many of whom would joined her for weekly line dancing and Curves fitness. She was an active member of the “Red Hatters” group, Delaware Hospice and St. Luke’s Catholic Church.
Surviving Irwin are her sons, David Irwin of West Fenwick, Del., and Douglas Irwin of New York City; three grandsons, Shaw Irwin of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jack Irwin of Los Angeles, Calif., and Connor Irwin of New York City; and her siblings Patricia Leitner of Poolesville, Md., Elizabeth Rhoades of Westminster, Md., Michelle Crudden of Pikesville, Md., and Joyce Rhoades of San Diego, Calif.
A Mass of Christian Burial was to be held Feb. 25, 2020, at St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City, Md., with the Rev. Paul Jennings officiating.
