The Indian River School District is offering free developmental screening in English and Spanish to all district families with children ages 3 or 4. The screening is available for all children in public and private preschools, family- and center-based childcares, and those who are not in care outside of the home.
Developmental screening offers a snapshot of each child’s current abilities in the fine motor, gross motor, communication, problem-solving, personal-social and social-emotional areas. Developmental milestones describe how children should be growing and learning in these developmental areas at different stages of their lives.
Screening can now be completed online by visiting www.irsdearlylearning.net/screening. Parents should click on the ASQ icon and complete the two Ages & Stages questionnaires for their child. (The Developmental Screener and the Social-Emotional Screener.) Results and resources will be reviewed and sent to the parent’s e-mail.
Participating families will receive free developmental screening and results, free information describing age-appropriate activities for the home and free information about developmental milestones.
