The annual Hair of the Dog 5K brought out more than 300 participants for the New Year's Day run, to benefit the Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation.

The towns of Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island each held their annual plunges into the Atlantic Ocean and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. Bethany’s ‘Leo Brady’s Exercise Like the Eskimos’ and Fenwick’s ‘Fenwick Freeze’ attract people from all over the East Coast, raising money for charities.

A snowstorm brought several inches of snow to the area on Monday, Jan. 3, posing challenges for motorists and workers, closing some businesses and canceling meetings, while tracing much of the area with a coating of white or ice.

The historic Dolle's sign is removed from the roof of the former saltwater taffy store by workers from Milton-based Rogers Sign Co. on Wednesday morning, Dec. 15, at the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach. The sign was erected in 1962 and will have a new home at the Rehoboth Beach Museum.

The crowd enjoys Christmas carols and the tree-lighting during Bethany Beach’s Holiday Happenings event, part of Weekend Wonderland in Bethany, in collaboration with the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce.
