West jumps out to early lead
If USA West (Glendale, AZ) hadn’t scored eight runs in the first two innings, their game against EMEA (Den Bosch, Netherlands) would’ve been a nail-biter. As it was, the West was able to notch an 11-2 victory.
Bulbs flash at 'telepathic' triplets
As Alexis, Taylor and Kelsey Oliphant walk through the Pyle Center during the 2007 Senior League Softball World Series, bulbs flash and people point in their collective direction. The sometimes unwanted attention — especially for three 15-year-old girls characterized as shy — comes not only with being players on the local team from Laurel in this year’s series but also from being triplets.
Laurel scores 14 off Canada
Showing no signs of a two-day layoff, Laurel scored 8 runs in the third inning Wednesday on its way to a 14-0 rout over Canada. The win was Laurel’s third in three games in the 2007 Senior League Softball World Series and put them in good position heading into Thursday’s game against the Central region’s representative from South Bend, Ind.
Central uses complete arsenal to beat Latin America
A fast start and a strong ending, combined with flawless defense, earned USA Central (South Bend, IN) a 10-0 victory over Latin America (Maunabo, Puerto Rico) at the Senior League Softball World Series in Roxana on Aug. 8.
Freeman missed and fondly remembered
The tragic absence of Josh Freeman at this year’s 2007 Senior League Softball World Series has not gone unnoticed. For the first three years the tournament has been hosted in Roxana, Freeman has roamed the grounds, watching the games and taking pride in the tournament the way locals do, although Freeman did not call this area his full-time home. A tragic accident that took Freeman’s life late last year shook this area where he was so fondly remembered, left a family without a husband and father, countless others without a friend and the series without one of its most avid fans and loyal contributors.
East shuts down Latin America
Earning a fourth or fifth place finish isn’t a consideration when softball players from the United States and around the world made the trip to compete at the Senior League Softball World Series in Roxana, Delaware. Every team dreams of being crowned world champion and anything less is a disappointment. But following a 3-0 win over Latin America (Maunabo, Puerto Rico), USA East (Pawcatuck, CT) took it all in stride and realized that maybe this wasn’t their year.
More blanks — Central shuts out District III

Laurel not fazed by rain against East
The Pawcatuck Little League team was one of only two teams to go undefeated in the opening games of the Eastern Regional Tournament last week in Worcester, Massachusetts, among the 10 competing, but they proved they were World Series material when they defeated Pennsylvania’s Corry Little League team 2-0. With the win, the Pawcatuck, Conn., team earned their seat at the World Series event this week in Roxana.

With 6 2/3 innings already in the books, USA Soutn (Morristown, Tenn.), was trailing USA West (Glendale, Ariz.) 8-0. They had one last shot to rally in their opening-round game.
Laurel takes second win after deadlock
One night after their bats earned them a 9-2 come-from-behind victory over the USA East (Pawcatuck, Conn.), the District II (Laurel, Del.) team earned their second win in a row the hard way. It took five innings, but finally District III was able to break the deadlock to earn a 1-0 win over Latin America (Maunabo, Puerto Rico) — and small ball was the asnwer.
East perfect in beating Canada
Two big offensive innings and a combined perfect game from two pitchers lifted the East team to an 11-0 victory over Canada in Day 2 action at the Senior League Softball World Series in Roxana on Monday, Aug. 6.
South battles back to notch big win
USA South (Morristown, Tenn.) couldn't afford another loss following it's 9-0 opening-round shutout loss to USA Central (South Bend, Ind.). Consecutive losses could very well have knocked them out of contention for the Senior League Softball World Series crown. Morristown, Tenn., represented the USA South last year and failed to win a game — and this year's team isn't interested repeating that bit of history.
Southwest moves past South with rally in seventh
Southwest rallies for two runs in the seventh inning Tuesday to beat South, 2-1, in the third day of the 2007 Senior League Softball World Series in Roxana. The loss was a crushing one for the team from Tennessee, which had already lost a game on Sunday and is not likely out of the championship contention.
