Miranda and Hardt go green
In the current real estate market, there’s a lot of competition, so it’s a given that every home for sale has to stand out. The same goes for the new-home building industry. In this area, buyers can now have their choice of new home in a new development on almost any back road, all touting that they are “minutes from the beach.” But not all of them are promoting that they were built with the environment in mind. That’s where Miranda and Hardt come in.

Hybrid homes take green houses beyond solar panels
Two new homes nestled back in Ocean Way Estates, built by custom builder E.S.B. Inc., are turning the heads of passers-by. The solar panels atop the roof may be one of the most noticeable features of the houses, though for these eco-friendly dwellings, they’re just the tip of the iceberg.

Your green word of the week: Ecology
1: a branch of science concerned with the interrelationship of organisms and their environments
2: the totality or pattern of relations between organisms and their environment
Human ecology
1: a branch of sociology dealing especially with the spatial and temporal interrelationships between humans and their economic, social, and political organization
2: the ecology of human communities and populations especially as concerned with preservation of environmental quality (as of air or water) through proper application of conservation and civil engineering practices

The word “ecology” is often used more loosely in such terms as social ecology and deep ecology and in common parlance as a synonym for the natural environment or environmentalism. Likewise “ecologic” or “ecological” is often taken in the sense of environmentally friendly.

Indians slip against CR, heavy conference games ahead
Another consecutive loss was the last thing on the mind of Indian River head coach Phil Mead when his basketball team took to the court on Tuesday night to face Henlopen North powerhouse Caesar Rodney, but that’s just what the Indians came away with, moving them to an even .500 on the season.
