Bethany Beach

• Bethany Beach Town Hall will be closed on Monday, Oct. 9, in observance of Columbus Day.

• The Bethany Beach Stormwater and Drainage Committee will meet on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. at the town hall. The agenda for the meeting includes: engineering updates for Bethany West, Tingle, Evans and N. Pennsylvania Avenue; discussion of financing of projects; and discussion of porous surface requirements for driveways and walkways.

• The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold a council workshop on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m., at the town hall, with discussion to include: roles, responsibilities and membership of committees; town council terms; town council procedure and protocol manual; public hearings, formats and voting; and recycling.

South Bethany

The South Bethany Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting on Friday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. at the town hall. The agenda for the meeting was to include the introduction of a resolution adopting a increased $2-per-square-foot permit fee for construction within the town; and a second reading of Ordinance 138-06, clarifying previous ordinances requiring grass to be kept under 10 inches in height and weeds to be controlled on all lots within the town that are not considered beachfront dune lots or wooded lots.

Millville

• The Millville Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m., at the town hall, 11 Club House Road.

• The mayor and council of the Town of Millville have changed the time of the workshop to be held with URS Corporation to review town ordinances to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, instead of 2 p.m., at the town hall, 11 Club House Road. The meeting will be open to the public.

Fenwick Island

• The Fenwick Island Environmental Committee will meet on Friday, Oct. 6, at 5 p.m. at the Keller residence. Call Fenwick Island Town Hall at (302) 539-3011 for directions.

• The Fenwick Island Beach Committee will meet at Fenwick Island Town Hall on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. The agenda for the meeting includes: review of the 2006 summer season by FIBP Capt. Tim Ferry; discussion of items for the Fenwick Island Newsletter and the Fenwick Freeze planned for Jan. 1, 2007; discussion of Beach Patrol competitions and uniforms for 2007, of the town bonfire; reports for the town council; and a report to Clyde Shipman.

• Fenwick Island Town Hall will be closed on Monday, Oct. 9, in observance of Columbus Day.

• The Fenwick Island Town Manager Search Committee will meet on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m., at the town hall.

• There will be a special meeting of the Fenwick Island Town Council on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 9 a.m. The purpose of the meeting is to review proposed comprehensive plan consulting contracts, to possibly accept and sign a contract, and to appoint planning commission members.

• The Fenwick Island Town Council will hold a workshop-without-agenda on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 9:30 a.m., immediately following the council’s special meeting.

Ocean View

The Town of Ocean View will be holding a construction progress meeting at 11 a.m. on Oct 9. The meeting will be held at the construction trailer located at the site of the new police building, 201 Central Ave. Officials will discuss the construction progress of the new police station.

Sussex County

• Sussex County Council will hold its regular weekly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in council chambers off the circle in Georgetown. The agenda for this meeting was not available before press time.

• Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m.
