Bethany Beach
• The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold a council workshop on Friday, Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m.
• The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting on Friday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m. The agenda for the meeting includes discussion and possible vote) regarding the election of a person to fill the vacancy on Council created by the resignation of John “Jack” Walsh. Walsh’s term is unexpired and pursuant to Section 6.5 of the Town Charter, the remaining Council members shall elect another qualified person to serve for the remainder of the vacant seat’s term. The term to be filled will expire in September 2007.
• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will meet on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 9 a.m. at the town hall. The agenda for the meeting includes discussion of next steps for updating Chapter 245-63 and 245-72, Signage Requirement; regarding permeable surfaces building materials as requested by the Town Council on Aug. 18; on first-draft submission of proposed amendment to Chapter 245-Table of Dimensional Requirements (TDR), resulting from adoption of commercial architectural guidelines.
• The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, to consider appointments to the town’s planning commission in the wake of the recent resignations of Commissioners Steve Trodden and Dave Evans, and the reconfiguration of the town council.
• The Town of Bethany Beach will hold a bandstand dedication event on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. at the boardwalk bandstand. There will be a concert and ribbon-cutting, and the public is invited.
Fenwick Island
• Fenwick Island Vice-Mayor Theo Brans will host a beach cleanup effort on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 9 a.m., at Dagsboro Street, in conjunction with the annual Coastal Cleanup.
• The Fenwick Island Town Council will hold its monthly meeting on Friday, Sept. 22, at 3 p.m. at the town hall.
Ocean View
• The town of Ocean View will hold its monthly work session at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the town hall meeting room. Town officials plan to discuss ordinances related to fees for subdivisions, Route 26 design standards, subdivision plan timeframes, property maintenance and emergency funds. They also plan to discuss the manpower study for the police department.
• Ocean View’s board of adjustment will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, in the town hall meeting room, on an application submitted by Jerold B. Graff for a variance to build a deck that would encroach on the rear-yard setback.
• After the BoA meeting, Ocean View’s Planning and Zoning commission will meet, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, in the town hall meeting room. They will review a subdivision plat submitted by Lawrence Long on behalf of Robert Rumble. Long will ask for the subdivision of 1.18 acres at 184 Central Avenue into two lots.
Sussex County Council
Sussex County Council will hold its regular weekly meeting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, in council chambers in Georgetown. The agenda for this meeting was not available before press time.
