Bethany Beach

• The Bethany Beach Budget and Finance Committee will meet Friday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at the town hall. The agenda for the meeting includes continued early review of the draft 2007 fiscal year budget.

• The Bethany Beach Town Council will meet Friday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the town hall. Items on the agenda include:

(1) Approval of a tax adjustment list;

(2) Appointment of a new Planning Commission member to fill the seat vacated by Phil Boesch;

(3) A second reading of the proposed property maintenance ordinance;

(4) Second readings of an ordinance allowing the town to transfer all fines and penalties to one chapter of the town code and an ordinance actually setting out those fines and penalties in a single chapter;

(5) Consideration of an amendment to the commercial construction moratorium enacted on Feb. 10 to allow simple repairs and replacements after administrative review; and

(6) A first reading of an ordinance to enact a new Chapter 115 “Erosion Control” to require owners of properties abutting any waterway in the town to maintain their properties to prevent erosion; and requiring the construction of approved bank stabilization and/or erosion control devices, if needed, as allowed under applicable state and federal law and penalties for non-compliance.

• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will meet Saturday, Feb. 18, at 9 a.m. at the town hall. The revised agenda for the meeting includes:

(1) Review of items from the Feb. 10 public hearing & Town Council meeting;

(2) Review of final plans for a PRD submitted by Rick Snider at 417 Central Avenue in the R-1 Zone;

(3) Review of final plans for a PRD submitted by Skip Valliant at 831 Garfield Parkway in the R-2 Zone;

(4) Proposal for amending Zoning Code Article XII regarding the town’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) district;

(5) Re-working of the proposed zoning amendment for a 7/12 roof pitch/height allowance; and

(6) Work related to impervious surfaces or permeable surfaces.

• Bethany Beach Town Hall will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20, for President’s Day.

• The Bethany Beach Cultural and Historical Affairs Committee (CHAC) will meet Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. The meeting will include preparation for the committee’s cultural event on Feb. 22, and updates on the museum, walking trail markers and the oral history project.

• The Bethany Beach Cultural and Historical Affairs Committee (CHAC) will present An Evening with State Archivist Russell McCabe, discussing the early history of coastal Sussex County, on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. at the town hall.

South Bethany

The South Bethany Town Council will hold a special meeting/budget workshop on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m. at the town hall.

Fenwick Island

The Fenwick Island Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting on Friday, Feb. 24, at 3:30 p.m.

Ocean View

The town of Ocean View will hold a Long Range Financial Planning Committee meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Town Hall, to talk about and possibly revise the town’s proposed 2007 budget.
