Obituaries

Clarence E. Kiel, 78, of Dagsboro, died on Saturday, Feb. 11. He was a printer for the New York Post.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was a member of the International Typographical Union for 50 years and a member of the Big 6 Retirees Club of New York City. He was also a life member of the Mason-Dixon VFW Post 7234, a charter member of Pup Tent #3 Military Order of the Cootie, a life member of the Oak Orchard-Riverdale American Legion Post 28 of Millsboro, a member of the Selbyville BPO Elks Lodge and a charter member of the East Sussex Moose Lodge of Ocean View. He attended the Bethel United Methodist Church in Dagsboro and was a member of the Friends of Prince George’s Chapel.

He is survived by three sons, Arthur R. Kiel of Saylorsburg, Pa., David E. Kiel of Colton, Cal. and Ernest W. Kiel of Verona, N.J.; a daughter, Frances K. Miller of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Mabel E. Morton of Las Vegas, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Kraus Kiel.

Funeral services with military honors are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m., at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. A viewing was scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home.

Alan R. Thormeyer, 59

Alan R. Thormeyer, 59, of Ocean View, died at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes on Monday, Feb. 6. He was an educator.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Thormeyer; daughter, Kara Thormeyer of Silver Spring, Md.; son, Robert Thormeyer of Alexandria, Va., and brother, Carl Thormeyer of Marina, Cal.

A memorial service was scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Damascus, Md.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Damascus Help of Damascus, Md., and Springfield College, Springfield, Mass.

Weston B. Watson, 84

Weston B. Watson, 84, of Dagsboro, died at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes on Thursday, Feb. 9. He worked for Westinghouse for 30 years, then Millsboro Ford for eight years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Doris M. Van Landingham Watson and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Watson of Newark, Del. He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne R. Watson.

A graveside service was scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the St. George’s United Methodist Church in Clarksville.
