Fenwick Island
The Fenwick Island Town Council regular council meeting for December has been moved up to Friday, Dec. 16, at 3:30 p.m. at the town hall. The agenda includes consideration of a request from South Schulz Wetlands Association to waive property taxes and discussion of the council’s position regarding press releases and personal letters.
Bethany Beach
• The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting on Friday, Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall. Items on the agenda include:
o Vote on the establishment of committee guidelines;
o Discussion and possible vote on the Streetscape project;
o A second reading on the town’s proposed property maintenance ordinance;
o Consideration of a proposal to extend the current contract between Marlowe and Company and the Town of Bethany Beach for governmental affairs consulting services regarding beach renourishment;
o Consideration of a contract submitted by Landscape Architectural Services for stormwater management plan for the former Christian Church/Neff property;
o Consideration proposal from Peninsula Mercantile Bank regarding the use of their parking lot located at the southwest corner of Garfield Parkway and Pennsylvania Avenue;
o Consideration of a contract submitted by Paul’s Paving Inc. for grading/stoning throughout the east side of town;
o Consideration of a resolution to vacate and abandon that unopened section of “Maryland Avenue” lying between Central Boulevard and Garfield Parkway; and
o Consideration of a contract submitted by Guardian Construction for the Bethany West Drainage Project, Phase I.
• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will meet Saturday, Dec. 17, at 9 a.m. in the town hall. The agenda for the meeting includes:
o A review of final plans for a PRD submitted by H. Meredith Palmer for property located at 816 Garfield Parkway in the R-2 Zone;
o A review of a land partitioning application filed by Lien and Vinh Nguyen for property at 303 Central Boulevard;
o Review of Zoning Ordinance Chapter 245 for communication facilities to be permitted in all zoning districts;
o A Zoning Ad hoc Committee (ZAC) update regarding proposed changes in the residential zone (covered pilings, floor-area ratio, impervious surfaces) and in the commercial zone (Streetscape, new retail shops, block renovations).
Dagsboro
Dagsboro Town Council will meet on Monday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m., at the Bethel Center on Clayton Street. This will be the first meeting for incoming Council Members Patti Adams, Wayne Baker and Cathy Flowers. Council will reorganize following swearings-in. On the agenda:
1) the appointment of Michael Balamoti to look into issues associated with a noise ordinance;
2) consideration of Calvin Ward’s dedication of roadway to the town;
3) consideration of a subdivision request for Eric Ankrom (Piney Neck Road);
4) a report from the town’s Planning and Zoning (P&Z) commission;
5) a resolution to set a public hearing to add definitions and regulations for restaurants, eateries and bars;
6) a resolution to increase annual license fees for businesses and services;
7) implementation of some housekeeping changes to the town code; and
8) discussion of a possible agreement with Sussex County for building inspection services.
