The Agenda
Indian River School District (IRSD)
• The IRSD School Board will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 7:30 p.m., at the new Sussex Central High School (26026 Patriot’s Way, north of Millsboro). Under old business, a progress report on major capital improvements. Under new business, accountability ratings, legislative priorities for the coming year and bus transportation fees for field trips and athletic events.
• Under administrative reports, district Superintendent is scheduled to deliver updates on back to school activities, new teachers, an all-day kindergarten grant, school resource officer (SRO) contracts, wellness center surveys and a U.S. Department of Education student mentoring evaluation, among other items.
South Bethany
• South Bethany Town Council will gather for a special meeting/workshop on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m., at town hall (402 Evergreen Rd.).
Sussex County
• The county Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission will meet on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m., at the County Administrative Building (2 The Circle, Georgetown).
Fenwick Island
• The charter and ordinance committee will meet on Friday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m., at town hall (800 Coastal Highway). On the agenda, a review of (1) definitions for apartments, hotels, motels, condominiums and townhouses and (2) proposed modifications to sign ordinance.
• Fenwick Island Town Council is scheduled to assemble for its regular monthly council meeting on Friday, Aug. 26, at 3:30 p.m., at town hall.
Bethany Beach
• Bethany Beach Town Council will meet for the regular monthly council meeting on Friday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m., at town hall (214 Garfield Pkwy). Council is slated to hold first readings of two ordinances, one to regulate antennas and another relating to the town’s ability to refund building permit fees. There will be a discussion regarding dates for future craft shows and consideration of (1) a contract for submersible pump repairs and (2) a resolution in support of the Delaware Air National Guard.
• The Bethany Planning Commission will meet on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 9 a.m., at town hall. Under new business, preliminary plan review of Planned Residential Developments (PRDs), submitted by Mark and Kiki Zachary (877 Garfield Pkwy) and H. Meredith Palmer (816 Garfield Pkwy). Under old business, review continues regarding the town’s subdivision ordinance and an Architectural Review Board.
