Frankford
• Monday, June 27 Budget hearing, 6 p.m., Town Hall (5 Main St.)
Dagsboro
• Monday, June 27 Town council meeting, 7 p.m., Bethel Center (107 Clayton St.)
The town has scheduled various public hearings, primarily relating to zoning issues.
Council members passed several amendments after the codebook had gone out for reprinting, and they’ll need to be added now. The amendments (1) clarify that “townhouse” refers to “at least four but not more than eight” units, and that there’s a 45-foot max height limit in the Light Industrial District, (2) strike certain cross-references, and a section relating to noise, (3) modify the section relating to certificates of occupancy and (4) set max fines and penalties for code violations.
Also, (1) a report on planning commission issues, (2) consideration of draft signage ordinance, (3) status of the new town hall, (4) consideration of an amendment to zoning code relating to “certificates of compliance” for restaurants and (5) consideration of a request that the town adopt a moratorium on annexations, re-zonings and major subdivisions.
Sussex County
• Tuesday, June 28 Sussex County Council meeting, 10 a.m. County Admin Building (2 The Circle, Georgetown).
County Administrator Robert Stickels is scheduled to give an update on the nascent Moderately Priced Housing Program. Also on Stickels’ agenda, a book presentation, “Delaware in the Great Depression,” and a funding request from Delaware District III Little League.
District III includes Roxana’s Lower Sussex Little League (LSLL), slated to host the Senior League Softball World Series again this year (starts Aug. 6).
Council reconvenes for public hearings at 1:30 p.m. the Canal Place development, 87 units at what is now the Lynn Lee Village manufactured home community on Cedar Neck Road (north of Ocean View), appears on the June 28 agenda.
Fenwick Island
• Fenwick Island’s Beach Patrol Committee will hold a meeting at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 24, in the town hall.
• The Fenwick Island Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting on Friday, June 24, at 3:30 p.m. at the town hall.
The items on the agenda for the meeting include: budget approval for the 2006 fiscal year; fee schedule approval; a first reading for Chapter 160 Zoning, Paragraph 5(46) (Outside Service Areas); and an amended first reading for Chapter 160 Zoning, Paragraph 6B (Regulations for Structures Docks, Piers, Wharves, Boat Ramps, etc.).
Bethany Beach
• The annual summer entertainment series hosted by Bethany Beach will feature acappella music from InToNation on Friday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the boardwalk bandstand. The U.S. Navy Commodores will perform jazz music on Saturday, June 25, also at 7:30 p.m. A Tribute to Frank Sinatra will be featured Monday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. The Sweet Adelines Chorus will perform on Wednesday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m.
