Meetings aplenty this week

• A meeting of the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will be held Thursday, March 10, at 7 p.m., in the County Council Chambers at the County Administrative Office Building in Georgetown.

Among the items on the agenda for the meeting are a public hearing on the application of Pierce Hardy Limited Partnership to consider the conditional use of land in an AR-1 Agricultural Residential District for a wholesale building materials sales and storage facility for expansion at 84 Lumber, to be located on a 23.1 acre parcel south of Route 26 and west of Route 17.

• The Fenwick Island Beautification Committee will meet on Monday, March 7, at 10 a.m. in Fenwick Island Town Hall.

• The Bethany Beach Budget and Finance Committee will meet Friday, March 11, at 2 p.m. at the town hall. The agenda for the meeting will include discuss and vote on the committee’s mission statement and on the proposed changes to the town’s Schedule of Fees.

The committee is also scheduled to review and mark up the 2006 fiscal year budget, leading up to a public hearing and town council vote on the budget at meetings on Friday, March 18, at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively. The proposed budget is available for inspection in the town hall, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on scheduled holidays.

• The Fenwick Island Beach Patrol Committee will meet Saturday, March 12, at 11 a.m. Items up for discussion according to the agenda include: orientation, bonfires, the Junior Patrol Program, beach coverage and a report from patrol Capt. Tim Ferry.
