Jeanette R. Abbadini, 99
Jeanette R. Addadini, 99, of Selbyville, formerly of Wilmington, Del., passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Green Valley Terrace in Millsboro. She had been a homemaker and was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ocean City, Md. She was a former member of the Lions Club and AARP. She attended the Roxana Cheer Center.
Abbadini was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rachel Diadoto Fieo; her husband, Gaetano Abbadini; and her son, Lynn Addadini. She is survived by her daughter, Diana Scott of Selbyville; her brother, George Fieo; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, with burial private.
William Gerald ‘Jerry’ Adkins, 71
William Gerald “Jerry” Adkins, 71, of Fenwick Island, Del., passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at his home. A graduate of St. James School, he attended Emory University in Atlanta and graduated from the University of Delaware, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He taught for 10 years at the former Lord Baltimore High School. A prominent business man in Sussex County, he was a real estate broker and developer. In addition to developing the Keenwicks, he owned and operated Treasure Beach RV Park, Bayville Shopping Center, Bayville Package Store and Bayville Marina.
Adkins was a member and served on the vestry of St. Martin’s In-The-Field Episcopal Church in Selbyville and was also a member of Doric Masonic Lodge No. 30 in Millville, the Bethany-Fenwick Chamber of Commerce, Sussex County Board of Realtors and the Rotary Club. He had previously served as chairman of the Delaware Solid Waste Authority and chairman of the Sussex County Democratic Committee and had been a member of the Delaware Judicial Committee for Magistrate Courts and on the Board of Delaware Technical and Community College, Owens Campus, Georgetown.
An avid traveler, he had traveled extensively in the United States and around the world, having visited many foreign countries and exotic places. For the last 25 years, he spent the winter months at his second home in Ocean Ridge, Fla., and although he really enjoyed hunting, his greatest passion was sailing.
Adkins was preceded in death by his parents, C. Edward and Pearle Murray Adkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Junis B. Adkins; a son, Andrew W. Adkins and his wife Pamela of Fenwick Island; two daughters, Jerean Adkins and her companion Mark Warren of Fenwick Island and Heather A. Marsden and her husband Scott of Annapolis, Md.; a sister, Patricia A. Derrickson and her husband William of Seaford; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Alexander and Caroline Marsden and Christopher, Jonathan, Matthew and Andrew Thomas Adkins; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services at St. Martin’s In-The-Field Episcopal Church and burial in Roxana Cemetery were private. Margaret K. Justice, 73
Margaret K. Justice, 73, of Ocean View, Del., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at home. She was an educator and school principal, retiring in the late 1980s from the Laurel School District after 33 years of service. She was a life-time member of the Millville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, past State President of the Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church, a member of the Republican Women’s Club and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 12 of Frankford. She was family-oriented and loved being around her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.
Justice was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mae (Littleton) Kelley. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, C. Sanford Justice; a daughter, Kelley Reynolds and her husband Kent of Ocean View; and two grandchildren, Samantha and Clay Reynolds.

Brontia Nichole Tashi ‘Tia’ Allen, 14
Brontia Nichole Tashi “Tia” Allen, 14, of Millsboro, Del., passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at Children’s Hospital, National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. A seventh-grade student at Sussex Central Middle School in Millsboro, she was a joyous young lady, humble and beloved by her family. She was a member of the chorus at school and was selected Miss Coastal Delaware in 2007. She loved her family and was admired by classmates at school who remember her smile and quiet charm. Taken so young, she will be missed very much. A member of Trinity Holiness Church in Frankford, she had attended Phillip C. Showell School and Selbyville Middle School.
Allen is survived by her mother, Sinaka Kellam and step-father, Victor Perez of Millsboro; her father, David Allen of Lancaster, Calif.; two brothers, Christopher Purnell and Victor Perez Jr.; her grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and many, many friends whose lives she touched.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at 1 p.m. at St. Johns Second Baptist Church, Mt. Joy, near Millsboro. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in St. Johns Second Baptist Church Cemetery. Contributions are requested to offset catastrophic medical expenses, as well as funeral expenses. Robert Lee Klinedinst, 85
Robert Lee Klinedinst, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather and educator, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, to be in God’s hands. A graduate of Gettysburg College, he did graduate degree study at Penn State and the University of Missouri. He served in Okinawa during World War II. He taught mathematics at Penn State and Bloomsburg University, where he taught some of the first computer courses. He enjoyed children and strived for fairness in education.
Klinedinst was an active member of Saint Matthew Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg, Pa., as well as Saint Luke Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap. He loved music, traveling to see family and camping. He and his wife served together as volunteers for Meals on Wheels and the Danville State Hospital, and enjoyed many church and university activities.
Klinedinst is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Klinedinst of Bloomsburg, Pa; two daughters, Trudy Klinedinst of Bloomsburg and Sue Dreisbach and her husband Bill of Medford, N.J.; two sons, Thomas Klinedinst and his wife Joann of Doylestown, Pa. and Jim Klinedinst and his wife Michelle of Dagsboro, Del.; six grandchildren, Charles Dreisbach of Syracuse, N.Y., Joseph Dreisbach of Medford, N.J., Andrew and Amy Klinedinst of Doylestown, Pa., and Darcy and Shelby Klinedinst of Dagsboro.
Services will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 North Market Street, Bloomsburg, Pa., with a viewing at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, and worship celebration at 2 p.m. Worshipers are welcome to join the family for a meal following the service. Helen M. Long, 90
Helen M. Long, 90, of Frankford, Del., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at her caretaker’s home in Dagsboro. She was formerly the manager of the Sea View Beach Shoppes in Fenwick Island, Selbyville and Ocean City, Md. She was a member of Frankford United Methodist Church.
Long was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie B. and Laura (Long) Morris; and her husband, Everett Long Jr. She is survived by a son, Everett Long III of Emerald Isle, N.C.; a daughter, Barbara Jean Schulze of Alphrata, Ga.; a sister, Eileen M. Powell of Martinsville, Va.; three grandchildren, Eric Schulze, Allison Gail and Krista Jones; and two great-granddaughters, Abby Schulze and Laura K. Gail.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at noon at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Thatcher Street in Frankford, where friends may call on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Carey’s Cemetery in Frankford. Cornea R. “Connie” (Sterner) McIlvain, 78, formerly of York, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Md. She was a homemaker; a graduate of William Penn H.S. Class of ’47; a volunteer at Green Valley Terrace Nursing Home; and an active member of St. Matthews By-The-Sea United Methodist Church in Fenwick Island.
McIlvain was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Esther (Geyer) Sterner; and her husband, Lawrence E. “Mort” McIlvain. She is survived by her son, Steven E. McIlvain (a letter carrier in Ocean City) and his wife Carol of Millsboro; two grandchildren, Shanna and Shawn McIlvain; a sister, Bert Meldrum of York; and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Workinger-Semmel Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St. in York. The service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthews By-The-Sea in Fenwick Island. Charles R. ‘Charlie’ Mellor Sr., 81
Charles R. “Charlie” Mellor Sr., 81, of Selbyville, formerly of Woodlyn, Pa., passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at home. He had been a data operations manager for Conrail and was a member of the Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View.
Mellor was preceded in death by his parents, Albert E. and Julia Seward Mellor. He is survived by his wife, Gwen L. Mellor; his sons, Charles Mellor Jr. of Edgewater Park, N.J. and Gregory Mellor of Prospect Park, Pa.; a sister, Frances McGill of Doylestown, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Mellor.

Judith A. ‘Judy’ Pello, 65
Judith A. “Judy” Pello, 65, of Dagsboro, Del., formerly of Allentown, Pa., passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at home. She was a church planner and a missionary, as well as a member of the New Life Bible Fellowship Church in Millsboro.
Pello was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ruth Schaeffer McGuigan; and her husband, John R. Pello. She is survived by her daughter, Grace L. Pello of Dagsboro; her brother, Kevin McGuigan of Fenwick Island; and three nieces.
Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, with interment in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
Michael Phillip Shockley, 37
Michael Phillip Shockley, 37, of Roxana, Del., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at home. He attended Sound United Methodist Church with his parents many years ago. He was a child with special needs who grew up to be a special man; he was loved by all his family and he loved them in return. He loved swimming in the pool and enjoyed collecting toy model tractors.
Shockley was preceded in death by his mother, Joan A. Cooper Shockley. He is survived by his father, Cashar W. Shockley; a brother, Cashar W. Shockley Jr. and his wife Sandra of Seaford; an uncle, Larry Cooper; a nephew, C.W. Shockley III; and many cousins and other family. Services were scheduled for Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, with interment in Roxana Cemetery.
Patricia Ann ‘Patty’ Smith, 54
Patricia Ann “Patty” Smith, 54, of Ocean View, formerly of the Washington, D.C. metro area, died of cancer Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Her friendly smile and loving spirit will be remembered and dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Smith was preceded in death by her mother, Jean M. Smith; and her brother, John J. Smith. She is survived by her father, Jacob P. Smith; sisters, Sheila Peaper, Jean Marie Smith, Rita Smith, Tina Marcy and Rose Huff; brothers, Michael P., J. Timothy, Jeffrey W., Charles A. and Jacob W. Smith; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Patty’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Bethany Beach.
