Rose M. Powell, 83

Rose M. Powell, 83, of Bluffton, S.C., formerly of Bethany Beach, Del., passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at the Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Harreeville, S.C., with her family by her side.

Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Powell. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Mikolaitis, and two grandsons: George W. and Stephen J. Maybroda; great granddaughters, Alysha and Julia Rose Maybroda; a brother, Constantine DiFillippo; and two sisters, Lucy Rahll and Anne Basillio.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, in Ocean View.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Powell’s memory to Hospice Care of America., 211 Professional Village Circle, Beaufort, SC, 29907. After the memorial service, there will be a luncheon at the Chalkboard restaurant at Sea Colony Market Place.

John P. Driscoll, 89

John P. Driscoll, 89, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Green Valley Terrace Nursing Home in Millsboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Gertrude V. Noonan Driscoll.

He is survived by his sister, Ann. C. Driscoll of Millsboro.

Driscoll was retired from the General Electric Appliance Park East in Columbia, Md., after many years of service. He served for five years in the U.S. Army during World War II, for the 36th Corps of Engineers Regiment. Driscoll’s medals include seven campaign medals, three Bronze Stars, one Silver Star and the Purple Heart for battle wounds received in Anzio, Italy.

A Mass of Christian burial was scheduled for Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, with interment with Honors in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

Doris E. Sanville, 77

Doris E. Sanville, 77, of Selbyville, Del., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zeno and Birda Murray Hudson, and her husband, Thomas C. Sanville.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Griffin and Judith Irvin, both of Selbyville, two grandsons, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, followed by interment.

Michael W. ‘Mike’ Moore Sr., 46

Michael W. Mike Moore Sr., 46, of Ocean City, Md., formerly of Reading, Pa., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at the Salisbury Nursing and Rehab Center in Salisbury.

He is survived by his father, Thomas Moore Sr. of Georgetown; mother, Anna D. Zeh of Georgetown; wife JoAnn M. Moore of Ocean City; sons Michael W. Moore Jr. of Conshocken, Pa., and Thomas E. Moore of Reading, Pa; brother, Thomas O. Moore Jr. of British Virgin Islands; sisters Lillian M. Blanchard of Radnor, Pa.; and Clara A Poperechny of Linwood, Pa.; and grandson, Callub A. Moore.

Services and burial will be private.

Harry F. Chrisman Jr., 76

Harry F. Chrisman Jr., 76, of Bay City, near Millsboro, Del., and formerly of Montgomery County, Pa, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

His parents, Harry and Marian Bradford Chrisman, and sisters, Betty and Joan, and a grandson, Tracy, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Bossert Chrisman; sons Harry F. Chrisman III and Joseph P. Chrisman; daughter, Joan Keyser; brother, Ronald Chrisman; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Bradley, Joel, Ashlee and Lisa; three great-grandchildren and very special friend, Alvin.

Chrisman was a retired transportation coordinator for Montgomery County and Ryder. He was Fireman of the Year in 1980 for Trappe Fire Company and a former police officer for Limerick, Collegeville-Trappe and Perkiomen Townships.

Funeral services will be private.

John W. Taylor Sr., 84

John W. Taylor Sr., 84, of Dover, formerly of Bishopville, Md., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mable White Taylor, and son, William Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Taylor, five sons, John W. Jr. of Frederica, Lucky of Dover, Jerry of Dagsboro, Clark Payne of Florida, and George Payne of Georgetown; daughters Aurilia Ferguson and Brenda Hopkins, both of California; three step-daughters, Jackie, Vickie and Rose; sister Hattie Tull of Laurel; 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Taylor was a retired master mechanic working on anything from general automotive repair to specializing in working on International Harvesters to working on ship engines when he was in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. in Georgetown and of Victory Chapel; a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II; certified deep-sea diver and commercial fisherman.

Committal services with honors were scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
