Only having entered Lord Baltimore Elementary School a month ago as temporary assistant principal, Ann Marie Logullo has now been officially hired as the school’s new principal, effective immediately, after the Indian River School District Board of Education voted her in Feb. 11.

Logullo began the 2013-2014 school year as assistant principal at Southern Delaware School of the Arts in Selbyville. She came to Ocean View just days after the Jan. 15 removal of former principal John Turssline and assistant principal Melissa Oates. (Both have since been reassigned as assistant principals at other schools within the district.)

Logullo had served the previous four years as an assistant principal at North Georgetown Elementary School. Before that, she was the IRSD’s supervisor of elementary instruction from 2007 to 2009.

“Ann Marie Logullo is a dedicated administrator who will be an asset to Lord Baltimore Elementary School,” said Superintendent Susan Bunting. “I congratulate her on this wonderful opportunity. The Lord Baltimore community is fortunate to have someone of her talent and experience leading it through the remainder of this school year and beyond.”

Gary Brittingham, who served as interim principal during the past month, will remain at LB “in an administrative capacity,” said IRSD spokesperson David Maull. Brittingham had retired recently after decades as an elementary school principal and assistant superintendent.

In the coming weeks, the district plans to advertise for and fill the position of assistant principal at Lord Baltimore Elementary.
