L. Ogden ‘Oggie’ Wise III, 71
L. Ogden “Oggie” Wise III, 71, of Selbyville, Del., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, after a long illness. Wise was born May 2, 1941, in New Castle, son of the late L. Ogden Wise Jr. and Gwendolyn (Steele) Wise.
Wise graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in 1959 and in 1962 joined the Marine Corps, where he spent four years on active duty. In 1968, he returned to Delaware to begin working for George & Lynch Inc. of Dover and worked his way up to become vice president of asphalt paving operations. While working for George & Lynch, Wise was a member of and served as vice president and, later, president of the Delaware Asphalt Paving Association. He was also a member of the National Asphalt Paving Association and represented Delaware on the association’s board of directors for nine years.
Wise leaves behind his wife, Renda J. Wise, who was truly devoted to him. He is also survived by two children, a son, Christopher and his wife, Lauren, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and a daughter, Kimberley Jensen and her husband, Drew, of Easton, Md.; a brother, Rick and his wife, Gail, of Williamsburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew and Evelyn Jensen and Kayne Wise; his aunt, Mrs. Richmond Steele of Dover; two cousins in New Castle; and many nephews, nieces, dear in-laws and friends.
A funeral service was scheduled for Dec. 4, 2012, at Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville, Del., with the Rev. Dr. James Van Der Wall officiating. Arrangements were by Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, through which condolences may be sent online at www.hastingsfuneralhome.net. Burial was to be at Redmen’s Memorial Cemetery in Dagsboro, Del.
