Joseph H. Lantz, 79, of Harbeson, Del., formerly of Media, Pa., passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008, at his home. He served during World War II as a corporal in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. A graduate of Widener University, he retired from Westinghouse as a planning engineer. He was a member of the Long Neck United Methodist Church, a former member of the Lu-lu Shrine Club, a former 32nd degree Mason and an avid gardener. He was also a member of the Sussex County Bird Club.
Lantz was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Irene (Barr) Lantz. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois (Brown) Lantz; a son, Bruce Lantz and his wife, Joanne, of Middletown, Del.; two daughters, Dawn Lantz of Landrum, S.C., and Kim Yoder and her husband, Elwood, of Harrisburg, Pa.; a sister, Arlene Davis and her husband, Alfred, of Millsboro, Del.; three brothers, Eugene “Gene” Lantz and his wife, Barbara, of Crystal River, Fla., Gordon Lantz and his wife Laura, of Kennett Square, Pa., and Norman Lantz and his wife, Sonya, of Ocala, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Chelsea, Devon, Maria, Daniel, Samuel, Arie, Bridget and Ally.
A memorial service was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, with private interment in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in his name to Compassionate Care Hospice, 31038 Country Garden Blvd., Suite D2, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
