Pre-season practices for all sports will begin on Friday, Aug. 15, with times for all practices and updates being posted on the school’s athletics website, at www.indians-sports.com.

Coach Jodi Stone and the field hockey squad will get started the earliest, at 6 a.m., with volleyball at 6:30 a.m., football and cross-country at 7 a.m., and soccer starting at 8 a.m. (Pre-season schedules are subject to change by the coaches.)

According to Athletic Director Todd Fuhrman, no athlete will be able to participate in any practices without a physical dated after April 1 of this year.

“You have to have a brand new physical dated after April 1st of this year, and you have to have it in your hands that day or you can’t practice,” Fuhrman explained.

To go over the fall sports season, there will be a meeting held for parents and athletes on Thursday, Sept. 4, in the auditorium.

“We’re going over anything related to athletics,” said Fuhrman. “We want all parents and students to be there just so they know what’s going on.”

Tailgating passes for Indian River football games will also be available on Friday, Aug. 15, starting at 8 a.m., but will initially be offered to active football boosters only. Pass buyers must be present to purchase their tailgating pass. Tailgating passes will be offered to the general public starting on Monday, Aug. 18, also at 8 a.m., at the front office.
