Hoop dreams still bleak for IR boys

Indian River’s boys’ varsity basketball team has yet to find their stride, or a steady and consistent roster, for the 2011-2012 season. That has the team still looking to mark their first win of the year. With the addition of a couple JV players to the varsity squad, including sophomore forward London Tucker, the main focus for the team now is to establish an identity and get everyone on the same page.

The Indians put up a valiant first-half effort last week as they hosted Delmar, trailing only by one at the end of the first half, but the Wildcats came back out in the third quarter, capitalizing on every opportunity to keep the Indians at bay. By the final buzzer, the Indians found themselves defeated, 46-68, marking their eighth loss of the year.

A talented and relentless Wilmington Friends team delivered yet another mark in the “L” column to the Indians this past Tuesday, Jan. 10, with a final score of 70-47. The Indians were hoping to turn things around this Thursday, Jan. 12, (after Coastal Point press time) as they hosted Polytech.
