Harold Bogie, 92

Harold Bogie, 92, of Millsboro, Del., passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at home. He was a retired entrepreneur and business owner in the manufacturing industry. He was a graduate of Boston University and was a distinguished World War II veteran, serving as a pilot in the Air Force, and was shot down over Hungary and held as a prisoner of war.

Bogie was a successful businessman and, after retiring, became a volunteer for his Baha’i religion as an auxiliary board member in Greece for many years. He returned to the United States, settling in Delaware, and continued volunteer work as an ambulance driver. He served as captain and past commander for the VFW Post 7244 and served the Department of Justice, Attorney General’s Office, volunteering as a senior law officer and senior victim advocate; he was president of REFORM and was past president of the Woodlands of Millsboro Homeowner’s Association.

Bogie was preceded in death by his parents, Achilles and Olga Romonyshyn Bogie. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Arline Turcott Bogie; two sons, Peter Bogie and his wife, Arlene, of West Roxbury, Mass., and David Alexander of Manhattan, N.Y.; one daughter, Patricia Denning of Rosendale, Mass.; a sister, Rene Randazo of Hyde Park, Mass.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a host of extended family and friends across the world.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, 2009, with interment in Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriot Way, Milford, DE 19963.
