Those looking for last-minute treats for the mom in their lives can head out to the annual Mother’s Day Flower & Bake Sale fundraiser hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary of Indian River Volunteer Fire Company on Saturday, May 10, in Long Neck.

“It’s always very beautiful flowers, and they’re very reasonably priced,” said organizer Tammy Fox. “We keep them so that people can afford them,” she added, noting that they’re also much nicer than one might find at a big-box store.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., people can find a variety of hanging baskets, begonias, stargazer lilies, geraniums, Gerbera daisies, miniature rosebushes and more.

Plus, the desserts table can help satisfy a sweet tooth on the spot or be the crowning glory for dinner later.

“All of our ladies get together and make homemade desserts,” Fox explained. “I’m thinking of myself making another pineapple upside-down cake,” which she said people seem to like.

The fundraiser benefits the Ladies Auxiliary, whose goal is to support the IRVFC.

“It is a nice thing for the community to help support us,” she said.

The Flower and Bake Sale will be in Station 2 at 25375 Banks Road (off of Long Neck Road, near Route 24) in Long Neck.
