Eugene H. “Gene” Sockriter Sr., 75, of Seaford, Del., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at his home. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-granddad. He put up a long fight with his illness for the past five years. He lost his late wife, “Mattie,” a year and a half ago and, since then, all he talked about was going home to be with her. His wish has come true, and he’s in Heaven with his loved ones.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory include eight children, William Hawkins and his wife, Janet, of Seaford, Evelyn Faircloth and her husband, Joe, of Laurel, Del., Patsy Collingsworth and her husband, Billy, of Delmar, Del., Eugene H. Sockriter Jr. and his wife, Christine, Nancy Bundick and her husband, Jeff, Alberta “Tinkerbell” Shockley, Louise Sockriter, and Wanda Walton and her husband, Johnny, all of Seaford; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, with interment in Blades Cemetery, Blades, Del.
