After years in making, Epworth Skatepark will finally celebrate its grand opening this Sunday, Aug. 24.

Beginning at 2 p.m., a dedication ceremony will take place, followed by skate contests, live music, and food and drink provided by the Matt Haley Companies’ Big Thunder Roadside Kitchen, which will be donating all of the proceeds from sales back to the skate park.

The free-access skate park is a “use-at-your-own-risk” facility for skaters. Registration is typically not required for general use; however, it will be necessary for this event and is set to begin at 1 p.m. A parent or guardian must register those younger than 18.

The park features a variety of ramps and rails, and a bowl, for local skaters to enjoy. It is located at 19285 Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth Beach.
