Surveyors use high-tech equipment to measure progress of building the 16-foot-tall dune off Bethany Beach’s boardwalk on Wednesday, Oct. 10. Active dune building moved north of the boardwalk this week, as local and state officials formally requested the the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers shorten the dune by 2 feet.
