Dew Tour. The Dew Tour Beach Championships will return to the Ocean City, Md., boardwalk this Wednesday, June 25, to follow up last year’s record-breaking turnout.

“Over the last decade, the Dew Tour has crowned 105 champions across 21 disciplines. We made history by creating the first-ever portable concrete bowl here in Ocean City and witnessed Jamie Bestwick’s nine-year winning streak in BMX Vert,” said Eric Grilly, president of Alli Sports. “After last year’s record-breaking crowd in Ocean City, we are excited to be back to host our inaugural 10th-anniversary event.”

One of four stops on the schedule, the 2014 Beach Championships will feature some of the best extreme sports athletes in the world, competing in street skating, bowl skating and vert skating, and the same for BMX, and even an amateur surfing event, in which local pros will get some national recognition and compete at one of their home breaks.

Delaware’s Colin Herlihy and Maryland’s Vince Boulanger, Brad Flora, Walden Remington and Seth Conboy are all expected to compete in the Amateur Surf Shop Final on Thursday, June 26, from 8 to 10 p.m.

In addition to some local big names, the event will also feature some nationally recognized stars, including Baltimore native and Skateboard Vert Champion Bucky Lasek, BMX Park Champion Ryan Nyquist and nine-time BMX Vert Champion Jamie Bestwick.

“I have skated in every Dew Tour season, so the 10th anniversary is a big milestone for me,” Lasek told the Coastal Point. “There is no better way to kick off this season than coming back to my home state to defend my title and skate in one of my favorite events — bowl — which is unique to the Dew Tour Beach Championships.”

The free event is open to the public and will kick off with a Shop Amateur Street session on Wednesday, June 25, beginning at 3:30 p.m., after the gates open at 2 p.m. The gates will open at noon from Thursday, June 26, through Sunday June, 29, with a variation of BMX and skate events each day.

Bands Skaters and Cage the Elephant will perform at the Beach Concert on Friday, June 27, from 9 to 11 p.m. and heRobust and GRiZ will play on the next night, at the same time.

The weekend events will be broadcasted on NBC networks. For more information on this Ocean City Dew Tour stop and the Dew Tour in general — including a full schedule of events — visit www.dewtour.com.
