BREAKING NEWS: IRSD referendum proposal shot down

The referendum that included three proposals requesting financial support in the Indian River District was rejected by voters within the area on Thursday. Officials looked to district residents in an effort to generate funds for operating expenses, teacher salaries and implementation of full-day kindergarten.

Operating expenses were denied by voters, with 1,467 in favor, and 1,830 against. The proposal to rejuvinate teacher and school staff's salaries was rejected by 1,735 voters and favored by 1,552. The proposal for full-day kindergarten recieved the most votes against, 1,887, while only 1,389 voted in the positive.
