Mildred B. ‘Mickie’ Christfield, 83

Mildred B. “Mickie” Christfield, 83, of Selbyville, Del., went home to be with her Lord and Savior and passed away on Feb. 12, 2017.

Christfield was a retired elementary school teacher of more than 40 years, having taught in Baltimore County, Md., and Sussex County, Del. She was an avid reader and longtime member of PEO.

Douglas J. Fearn, 89

Douglas J. Fearn, 89, of Seaford, Del., formerly of New Castle, Del., passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, with his beloved wife and daughter by his side. Fearn was born in Southampton, England, on June 16, 1927, son of the late Fredrick Charles Fearn and Olive May (Dicks) Fearn.

Fearn had served as a Merchant Marine, with 40 years of service with Getty Oil.

Margaret H. Long, 90

Margaret (Haldeman) Long, 90, of Frankford, Del., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at Harrison House Senior Living in Georgetown, Del. She was born May 28, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pa., to John and Alice Haldeman, and lived in Haddon Heights, N.J., with her parents, a brother and three sisters.

Clayton Ringler Sr., 87

Clayton Ringler Sr., 87, of Hayesville, N.C., passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at his residence. He was the son of the late Raymond Easter and Enid Odessa Lynch Ringler, and a native of Sussex County, Del., but lived in the Florida Keys before moving to Clay County, N.C., in 2006.

John G. Stafford Sr., 92

John G. Stafford Sr., 92, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Baltimore, Md., and Carroll County, Md., passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center. He was born Sept. 10, 1924, to Reid Stafford and Blanche (Simmons) Stafford Tieman.

Marguerite ‘Peg’ Wentz Trimble, 103

Marguerite “Peg” Wentz Trimble, 103, died at home in Elkins, W.Va., on Feb. 1, 2017, after an active life with a close family, friends and good bridge. She had been in gradually declining health.

Paul Zolbe, 80

Paul Zolbe, 80, a 30-year resident of Ocean View, Del., passed away on Feb. 4, 2017, with his loving wife at his side, after a 15-month battle with cancer. Zolbe was born to William Zolbe and Geraldine (Howell) Zolbe on Oct. 15, 1936, and raised in Johnstown, Pa., where he met and married Carolyn Ann Clark. They were married for 61 years.

Mark Joseph Bennett, 74

Mark Joseph Bennett, 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Ocean View, Del., on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, while surrounded by his family. He was born March 28, 1941, at his childhood home in Bethany Beach, Del.

David J. Cullen Jr., 80

David J. Cullen Jr., 80, formerly of Vienna, Va., and recently of Baywood in Long Neck, Del., passed away on Feb. 6, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born Aug 22, 1936, in Pittsfield, Mass.

Erle F. Dobson, 88

Erle F. Dobson, 88, of Frankford, Del., died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at home.

Dobson retired from Chrysler after 33 years and had worked for Seaside Hobbies in Ocean View, Del. He was a member of Nur Temple Shrine Club/Ritual Unit, St. Johns Masonic Lodge and the Delaware Seaside Railroad Club.

Harry Leroy Easton Sr., 89, of Selbyville, Del., died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at home. He was born in Poplar Springs, Md., and was the son of the late Albert and Pearl Smith Easton.

Mary Wimberly Anderson (Szlasa) Franz, 80, passed away from lung cancer on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, leaving behind a legacy as a prominent business owner, a beloved sister, wife, mother and friend. Born on March 25, 1936, and raised on Wimberly Farms in Princess Anne, Md., Franz was known locally as Mary Wimberly, daughter to the late Howard H. Anderson and Elsie B. Anderson.

John David Friling, 77, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Downingtown, Pa., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017.

George E. Klinger, 77

George E. Klinger, 77, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center.

Klinger retired from Verizon, where he worked as a splicing tech for many years.

Murray is survived by a brother, Robert Murray, and his wife, Sharon.

Shifflett, 89, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Baltimore, Md., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her late beloved husband, Wallace H. Shifflett Sr., celebrating their life together with Christ. They would have celebrated 72 years of marriage on Feb. 3, 2017.

Richard Alan Wooden, 60, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, in Beebe Healthcare. He was born Oct. 10, 1956, in Mt. Holly, N.J., a son of Edward Wooden and Mildred Deal Wooden.

Wooden had lived in Delanco, N.J., and came to Delaware 16 years prior to his death. He had worked as a cement finisher in New Jersey before working for several years at Superfresh.

Phillip J. Anthony, 70

Phillip J. Anthony, 70, of Bishopville, Md., died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., and was the son of the late Dorris L. Anthony and Dorothy (Stoll) Anthony.
