Richard Dale ‘Rick’ Smith, 57

Richard Dale “Rick” Smith, 57, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019. He was born in Wheeling, W.Va., on July 17, 1962, to the late Charles E. Smith and Freda Smith.

He was employed by Quality Heating & Air Co., where he had worked as a superintendent for the last 12 years. Some of his hobbies included carpentry, woodworking and working in his garage. Smith was known as a hard worker, honest, friendly and a family man who will be missed dearly.

In addition to his parents, Smith was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Smith. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Melissa Bailey Smith of Dagsboro; three daughters, Heidi Smith her husband, Nathan Sprout, of Georgetown, Del., and Taylor Smith and Nicole Smith, both of Dagsboro; three siblings, Eddie Smith, Chuck Smith and Debbie Smith, all of West Virginia; his Aunt Debbie and Uncle George of Dagsboro; a granddaughter, Hayden; and his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service was to be held Sept. 29, 2019, at the Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Del., with burial at the Redmen Memorial Cemetery in Dagsboro, Del.
