Thomas Clair Umbaugh, 63

Thomas Clair Umbaugh, 63, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa., passed away suddenly on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Del. He was born in Leechburg, Pa., on Nov. 29, 1955, son of William Umbaugh and Nancy Umbaugh.

Umbaugh owned and operated Umbaugh Painting in Millsboro.

He loved watching his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Penguins. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, watching scary movies, and helping his neighbors and friends with their maintenance projects. In addition, he loved spending time with his family, especially pranking and scaring his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Umbaugh was preceded in death by his father and by his twin brother, Jerry Umbaugh, in 2016. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Umbaugh of Leechburg, Pa.; his loving wife of 37 years, Sharon J. McGovern; a daughter, Nicole Spisak and her husband, Tony, of Murrysville, Pa.; four stepsons, Ed McGovern and his wife, Debbie Shrubb, of Milton, Del., Kevin McGovern of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mark McGovern and his wife, Ruth, of Millsboro, and Craig McGovern his and spouse, Fabi, of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; two brothers, Jeff Umbaugh and his spouse, Kim, of Leechburg, and Todd Umbaugh and his spouse, Cindy, of Vandergrift, Pa.; two sisters, Linda Leonard and her husband, Ben, of Leechburg, and Wendy Lowe and her husband, Bill, of Columbia, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Mary Umbaugh of Apollo, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Hailey, Nicolas, Hannah, Noelle, Mark, Danielle and Cody; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Olivia and Arianna, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Umbaugh’s life will be held at 11 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, Del.
