The Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation (QRCF) this week announced that the eighth annual Bunny Palooza! will take place on Saturday, April 20 — the Saturday morning before Easter.
Bunny Palooza! is a 10K run or 5K run/walk to benefit the QRCF’s scholarship and grant programs. The races begin on Parkwood Avenue and Atlantic Avenue in downtown Bethany Beach, and will end on the Bethany Beach boardwalk. The 5K begins at 8 a.m., and the 10K at 9 a.m.
Bunny Palooza! is a chip-timed event by Races2Run and Nova, featuring real-time results posted on multiple large-screen monitors. Bunny Palooza! offers recognition for winners — overall, masters and age-group medals, and special top finisher awards, thanks to Tidepool Toys. There will also be a post-race party at Mango’s on the boardwalk, with beer provided by NKS distributors and post-race recovery food.
The 10K finishers will receive finisher medals. Runners who register by March 31 are guaranteed a commemorative race shirt. Registration for the Bunny Palooza! 10K run costs $25 to $45, while registration for the 5K costs $20 to $35, depending on how early participants register.
Online registration at Bunnypaloozarun.com is open until April 17. Race packets may be picked up at Mango’s on April 19 between noon and 3 p.m. On-site registration will be available if the race has not sold out.
“We are so excited to jumpstart the spring race season with this popular race for a great cause — the QRCF’s scholarship and grant programs!” said Brigit Taylor, QRCF race chair. “We were recently named one of the top races in Delaware by BestofDelaware.com, so check us out to see what all the hype is about!
“The run itself is great — fast and flat. Palooza Plaza — and other surprises — plus an after-party for participants and their guests that simply cannot be equaled. This race is sure to sell out again this year, so I hope everyone registers early.
“Bunny Palooza! offers something for everyone. For runners and their families, visitors and residents, the festival-like atmosphere is sure to be entertaining.” said Taylor.
Proceeds from Bunny Palooza! benefit the individuals, groups, clubs and organizations that are served by the QRCF.
“Events such as Bunny Palooza!, our Hair of the Dog Run and Caribbean Christmas help us fund two $8,000 scholarships annually to local students and both major and minor grants to area non-profits,” noted Taylor. “We are grateful for the extraordinary community support that helps us to do good work in the Quiet Resorts. We have awarded more than $700,000 in our 17-year history.”
“The QRCF is also excited to announce that we are currently accepting applications for our annual college scholarship program — an opportunity for an area senior to receive an $8,000 four-year scholarship commitment to help a worthy student get ahead in college, and a $1,000 arts scholarship to a local junior or graduating senior,” added Taylor.
Local students can find more information or apply online at www.qrcf.org. The deadline for this year’s scholarships is April 5.
Bunny Palooza! is currently seeking volunteers. For more information, call (302) 537-QRCF (7723) or visit Bunnypaloozarun.com.
Sponsorships for this event offer promotional opportunities for businesses and provide funds for QRCF grants and scholarships. Sponsorships are fully tax-deductible, and a few opportunities are still available.
