Lois S. Holloway, 90, of Selbyville, Del., died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at Caroline Hospice House in Denton, Md. She was born in York, Pa., daughter of the late Ozro N. Steigelman and Myrtle (Minnich) Steigelman.
Holloway moved with her family to Georgetown, Del., when she was 12 and later graduated from Georgetown High School. She obtained her pilot’s license in the late 1940s and flew until she was married.
She retired after 23 years as a teacher’s aide with Phillip C. Showell Elementary School in Selbyville. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and a former member of the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener and crafter.
Holloway was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Frank M. Holloway, in March of 2017 and a son, Frank M. Holloway II. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl H. Powell and her husband, Jeff, of Denton, Md.; a sister, Jean Ellis of Wilmington, Del.; two grandchildren, Zachary M. Powell and his wife, Chelsea, and Jacob L. Powell; and a great-grandson, Owen N. Powell.
A funeral service was scheduled for Dec. 2, 2017, at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, Del., with the Rev. David Hudson officiating. Burial was to follow at Bishopville (Md.) Cemetery.
