Francis Xavier “Frank” Subach, 75, of Millsboro, Del., passed away at home on Dec. 29, 2018. He was born on March 11, 1943, in Shenandoah, Pa., to Eva Kravitz and Frank Jerome Subach.
Subach was raised in Newark, Del., and attended Newark High School. He was a captain on the football team and was honored to play in the Blue-Gold Game. He then attended Wesley College and graduated from the University of Delaware.
Subach married Sally Stayton and raised three children — Lauren, Peter and Michael — in Newark. In 1990, Subach married the love of his life, Joanne Chmielewski. They relocated to Millsboro, where he resided until his passing. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He treasured his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Subach enjoyed a lifelong career with Crown Zellerbach/Gaylord Container in regional sales. He also enjoyed playing golf, laughing with family and friends, and watching sports. He was an avid sports fan. Subach was well-known for making all of us laugh.
In addition to his parents, Frank and Eva Subach, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Subach. Survivors saddened by his sudden unexpected death include his wife of 28 years, Joanne Subach; a daughter, Lauren Allgood, and her husband, Charles; two sons, Peter Subach and his wife, Christine, and Michael Subach; a sister, Barbara A. Stimmel, and her husband, David; two brothers-in-law, Paul and John Chmielewski; four grandchildren, Samual Allgood, Thomas C. Allgood, Meghan M. Subach and Collin P. Subach; and many beloved nieces, nephews, old friends and customers.
A memorial service was to be held Jan. 5, 2019, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were encouraged and greatly appreciated, to the American Heart Association; 200 Continental Dr. #101; Newark, DE 19713.
