Helen Jane Townsend Nichols, 98, of Salisbury, Md., formerly of Millville, Del., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, at her home. She was born June 1, 1920, in Millville, Del., daughter of the late Carl Morgan and the late Leona (Gray) Morgan.
Nichols had worked in variety of capacities, with her last job being as a cook at Teens Restaurant in Millville. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and completing word searches.
In addition to her parents, Nichols was preceded in death by her first husband, Elisha William Townsend; her second husband, James Nichols; a son, Phillip E. “Pee Wee” Townsend; and a granddaughter, Holly Rae Townsend. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Townsend Smullen, and her husband, Tom, of Salisbury, Md.; four grandchildren, William “Bill” Townsend and his wife, Maria, of Frankford, Del., Donna Rae Frietz and her husband, Archie, of Dagsboro, Del., Gregory Alan Lynch of Laurel, Del., and Tommy Smullen Jr. of Laurel, Del.; a brother, David Morgan of Millsboro, Del.; a sister, Katherine Atkins of Millsboro, Del.; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
