John Joseph Glodek Jr., 74, of Bethany Beach, Del., formerly of West Chester, Pa., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Del. He was born in Chester, Pa., on April 7, 1944, to the late John Joseph Glodek Sr. and the late Mary Angela (Jurkowski) Glodek.
Glodek graduated from Archmere Academy in 1962 and then he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Joseph’s University in 1966. Glodek proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, from 1966 to 1969, in the U.S. Marine Corps. He began his career with Scott Paper Company, and after 31 years, he retired from Procter & Gamble.
He was an avid reader and he loved being a “dziadzi” to his seven grandchildren.
Glodek is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara Marie (Pennewill) Glodek; their four children, Barbara Ann Zrebiec and her husband, Ken, Linda Marie Gotchel and her husband, Andy, Christine Joann Glodek, and John Paul Glodek and his wife, Stacy; and his seven precious grandchildren, Sarah, Ashley and Stephen Zrebiec, Charlotte and Caroline Gotchel, and Sadie and Simon Glodek.
