Vincent “Vinnie” Esposito Sr., 80, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Bloomfield, N.J., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at his home on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017. He was born May 18, 1937, in Harleigh, Pa., the ninth child of the late Sabatino Esposito and Josephine (Signorella) Esposito.
Esposito began his career with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and eventually retired as the postmaster of the Netcong, N.J., post office in 1992, after 30 years of service. He also served on council of the Township of Bloomfield, retiring in 2000.
Esposito was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed hunting. He was also known as the CEO of the Bethany Beach Boardwalk and was very active with the 9:59 Club, a group of people who gathered on the boardwalk Monday through Saturday to talk, socialize and solve the world’s problems.
In addition to his parents, Esposito was preceded in death by his seven siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Maureen (Duhig) Esposito; three children, Darlene Esposito of Millsboro, Del., Vincent Esposito Jr. and his wife, Arlene, of East Hanover, N.J., and Christopher Esposito and his wife, Veronica, of Hoboken, N.J.; five grandchildren, Vincent E. Knoepfel, Vincent Esposito III, Michelle Esposito, Nico Esposito and Paloma Esposito; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Izabella Knoepfel; and a sister, Marie Ridall of Berwick, Pa.
A visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, Del. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at 10 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, Del. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at www.stjude.org.
