Maridell A. West, 94, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, at her home, with her family by her side. She was born in Pittsville, Md., to the late Walter M. White and Dorothy M. Steinenger White.
West retired after 20 years from work with the State of Delaware, where she worked as a cottage supervisor at the Stockley Center. She also volunteered at the Christian Storehouse and delivered Meals on Wheels when her health allowed.
West was one of the oldest members of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. Her greatest pleasure was the love of her family. She would make sure the family got together on special occasions. Some of her interests included cooking for the family, gardening, camping. fishing, fellowship of her church family and helping others. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, West was also preceded in death by her husband, Milton B. West; two brothers, Murray White and Irvin White; two sisters, Ida Widdowson and Amanda Taeuber; and a sister-in-law, Jane White. She is survived by three daughters, Brenda West, Linda Cullen and her husband, Toby, and Kathy Hudson and her husband, Sprig, all of Millsboro, Del.; sister-in-law, Emily White; brothers-in-law, Paul Widdowson and Dick Taeuber; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A funeral service was held Sept. 30, 2018, at Grace United Methodist Church, with burial in the Millsboro Cemetery, both in Millsboro, Del.
