Barbara Hastings Rogers, 69, of Georgetown, Del., passed away in the care of Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Del., on Aug. 26, 2018. She was born on Jan. 28, 1949, to the late Glenn L. Hastings and Elizabeth Burton Hastings in Lewes, Del.
She married Kenneth Rogers, and together they raised two children. She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
Rogers retired from work with the Indian River School District as a manager of nutrition services. She also worked for the DuPont Nylon Plant in Seaford for 12 years and also was a stay-at-home mom when her children were young. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved sewing and Longaberger baskets. She was kindhearted, loving and helpful in any way and was always willing to help.
Rogers is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth W. Rogers Sr.; two children, Kenneth W. Rogers Jr. and his wife, Amanda, of Georgetown, and Kimberly LeKites and her spouse, Jamie, of Princess Anne, Md.; three grandchildren, Cole Rogers, Caleb Rogers and Karson LeKites; a step-grandson, Wyatt LeKites; two brothers; a niece; two nephews; several cousins; and her extended family and many, many friends.
The family extended a very special “Thank you” to the members of the ambulance crew who assisted Rogers several times during her illness.
A celebration of Rogers’ life was to be held Sept. 2, 2018, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Del., officiated by the Rev. James Scott. Interment was to be at Cokesbury Cemetery.
