Voneita Y. Burton, 58, of Lewes, Del., passed away on Friday, Aug. 3, 2018. She was born March 19, 1960, in Lewes, Del., to the late Harlan Jackson and Bernice Wright Jackson.
Burton was a member of Israel United Methodist Church in Lewes and worked as a housekeeper in various hotels over the years.
She loved Western and horror movies. She also enjoyed outside activities, such as crabbing, the Nanticoke Indian Powwow and target practice. She was a very good eagle-eye shooter. Burton was loving and witty, and you just never knew what she might say.
Burton leaves behind three children, William Shannon Street of Dover, Del., Bruce Burton of Lewes and Carey Burton of Milton, Del.; three sisters, Evelyn Johnson of Milton, Doneita Witke and her husband, Ronald, of Harbeson, Del., and Darlene Spruill and her husband, Raymond; a brother, Jerry Jackson and his companion, Violet Frazier, of Millsboro, Del.; a granddaughter, Madison Street; her longtime companion and devoted friend, Wellington “Buddy” Hicks; and her extended family members and friends.
A funeral service was to be held Aug. 11, 2018, at Israel United Methodist Church, Lewes, Del., with burial in the adjoining church cemetery. Flowers were welcome. Condolences may be sent online at www.watsonfh.com.
