Joseph G. Cherone, 92, of College Park, Md., died Thursday, July 5, 2018, at the home of his daughter Susan in Selbyville, Del. He was born in Pittston, Pa., son of the late Samuel Cherone and Mary (Venetz) Cherone.
Cherone retired from work at the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier. He was a member of the Letter Carriers Union and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in College Park. He and his wife participated in Meals on Wheels for more than 40 years.
Cherone was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Katherine Cherone; four sisters, Mary Cherone, Florence Keen, Josephine Severnak and Rose Greeley; and three brothers, Sam Cherone, Louis Cherone and Albert Cherone. He is survived by two daughters, Susan M. Wiseman and her husband, Michael, and Linda A. Cherone; a son, Albert J. Cherone; a sister, Theresa Poremba of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; a brother, Martin Cherone of Henderson, Nev.; five grandchildren, Michael Wiseman, Christina Wiseman, Brandy Cherone-Hildebrandt, Bradley Cherone and Salvatore Cherone; and two great-grandchildren, Mallory Wiseman and Josephine Goff.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Branchville Volunteer Fire Hall, 4905 Branchville Road, College Park, Md.
