Pauline Wampler Shortridge, 88, of Millsboro, Del., and formerly of Manassas, Va., passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, after a brief illness, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del.
Shortridge was born July 30, 1929, in Buchanan County, Va. She retired from work at Piedmont Federal Savings Bank as a senior loan officer and had previously worked for Birmingham Dairy.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, feeding others, walking, attending church, knitting, crocheting, cardinals, and spending time with her friends and loving family. She attended Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro and had previously attended Manassas Church of Christ for many years.
Shortridge was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ervine Cecil Shortridge, in 2014; her parents, Floyd and Rose Wampler, in 1979 and 1999, respectively; a sister, June Bernice Deel, in 1957; and a grandson, Carlton Cecil Shortridge, in 1979. She is survived by a son, C.J. Shortridge and his wife, Denise, of Dagsboro, Del.; a daughter, Sharon Wiltz Oliverson of Goshen, Ind.; her grandchildren Dan Shortridge and his wife, Rachel Kipp, Tom Shortridge and his wife, Anna Bowers, Lisa Herschberger and her husband, Dave, and Lori Richards and her husband, Rob; her great-grandchildren, Hadassah Rose, Katie, Jeff, Alicia and Bryan; her sister Shery Bennett and her husband, Stem, of Rocky Mount, Va.; a brother, Floyd Edmound Wampler and his wife, Phyllis, of Rock Hill, S.C.; her nieces, Ashley Rose Bennett Amos and Alisha Ann Bennett; and numerous siblings-in-law and other relatives.
A memorial service for will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, Del. Interment will be at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial donations to Manassas Church of Christ; 8110 Signal Hill Rd.; Manassas, VA 20111; or to Delaware Hospice; 100 Patriots Way; Milford, DE 19963; or to the giver’s favorite charity.
