More than 370 cadets received bachelor’s degrees from Virginia Military Institute during the commencement ceremony May 16. Former U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson addressed the Class of 2018 in VMI’s Cameron Hall.

Graduating cadets included local student Abdias B. Girardi Jr. of Millsboro, who received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a chemistry minor and was named Distinguished Graduate and received Institute Honors. Girardi is the son of Maria A Morgan.
