Sussex County Councilman Rob Arlett, who is also throwing his hat into the U.S. Senatorial ring, is hosting a free veterans town hHall-style event at the Selbyville fire hall on Tuesday, July 10, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Along with Arlett, who will serve as host and moderator, will be Larence Kirby, executive director of the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs, and Dr. Shawn Greener, a Navy veteran, former police officer and talk-show host. Event cosponsors include the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs and the Faith & Freedom Coalition Delaware. Other veteran support groups are invited to set up tables at the event to offer information on what they do, and how they might offer assistance.
This is a good opportunity for veterans to get answers to tough questions — something that is in far-too short of supply. Arlett is billing this as “... certainly not political. Otherwise the governor’s appointee would not be coming.”
Arlett, who served in the United States Naval Reserve, comes from a military family, and now has a son in the United States Naval Academy. He has a vested interest to try to improve services for veterans, and this is one step.
If you’re a veteran with questions, this event might be for you, regardless your politics.
