Anthony M. Sturgis Jr., 34, of Wilmington, Del., departed this life on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at his residence. Born in Lewes, Del., he was the son of Anthony M. Sturgis Sr. and Yvonne E. West Sturgis.
Sturgis received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Delaware, where he was a part of the gospel choir. He later received a master’s degree in finance from Golden-Beacon College in Wilmington. He was a bank manager at WSFS Bank in Wilmington.
Sturgis attended Church of Christ in Frankford, Del. He was a member of Big Brothers in Wilmington and the Russell Delegation Gospel Choir.
Sturgis was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Russell West, and paternal grandparents, Nathaniel G. and Consia Sturgis. In addition to his parents, Sturgis will be lovingly remembered by a sister, Tyshay Clay and her husband, Roger Clay Sr.; his maternal grandmother, Frances West; two nephews, Roger Clay Jr. and Anthony Clay; four godchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
