The 4th Annual Kids Catch-All Fishing Tournament is right around the corner — scheduled to take place the weekend of June 23-24.
Hosted by the Indian River Marina and Lyme Disease Association of Delmarva Inc., the annual event is one designed for the whole family to enjoy. Kids ages 3-18 are being invited to participate, and adults are allowed to help the younger kids reel the fish in. Anglers will be able to fish on a private boat, a charter boat, from a jetty or from the beach.
The annual kids’ fishing event is designed to be great fun for a great cause, as participation helps to raise money for the Lyme Disease Association of Delmarva.
There are 12 divisions in which special custom-made trophies will be awarded for the heaviest fish. Those divisions include: bluefish, croaker, flounder, mackerel, mahi, rockfish, seabass, shark spot, triggerfish, trout and tuna. Additional trophies are awarded for the most billfish released and for the Most Unusual Catch.
A certified weighmaster will be weighing and registering each participant’s heaviest three fish in each division in which fish are caught. The Most Unusual Catch winner will be determined by the weighmaster as well.
Also, on both Saturday and Sunday nights, there will be an all-you-can-eat buffet offered for the whole family. Saturday night’s sponsor is Hammerheads, and they will be serving a “Mexican Fiesta” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Awards Banquet and Cook-Out will take place on Sunday at sponsor Bethany Blues, from 6 to 8 p.m. Door prizes will be offered each night during dinner. Kids who are registered in the fishing tournament will eat free, while other family members will get to enjoy the all-you-can-eat dinners for $10 per person.
Fishing on both days will start at 6 a.m., and lines must be out of the water by 3 p.m. Boats must by inside the marina cut by 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday. Weigh-ins will be from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, and from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Anglers can get the fish to the scales by any means they wish.
To register, log on to www.kidscatchall.com. Fees are $25 per child or $150 per boat, with a maximum of six children per boat. On-site registration will take place on Friday, June 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. or Saturday, June 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. Those who register online must visit the registration table to pick up tournament rules prior to beginning to fish.
Registration fees provide a donation to the Lyme Disease Association of Delmarva, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing educational resources on Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses to the residents of the Delmarva Peninsula.
