Myrtle R. Hudson, 95, of Selbyville, Del., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Del. She was born in Gumboro, Del., on March 5, 1923, daughter of the late George Washington Wells and the late Minnie (Ellingsworth) Wells.
Hudson worked at Showell Hatchery as a chicken vaccinator and then for several years for the Kings Arms Hotel in Ocean City, Md. She was an avid reader and amazing cook who loved time spent with her family. She will be remembered as a loving mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Hudson was preceded in death by her husband, Levin D. Hudson; an infant child; and her five siblings, Georgia, Pearl, Helen, Lula and Ray. She is survived by her six children, Clint Short, Barbara Hall, Harvey Short, Carol Richardson, Gary Short and Judy Bennett; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
A graveside service was scheduled for May 17, 2018, at Line Community Cemetery in Whitesville, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions in Hudson’s name to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be sent online at www.melsonfuneralservices.com.
