James Davis “Jim” “Jimmy” Rickards, 45, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Tennova Physicians Regional Medical Center after a long battle against colorectal cancer.
Rickards grew up in Dagsboro, Del., and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Auburn University, where he was also in the Auburn University Marching Band. He managed hotels in many different cities, including Montgomery, Ala., Springdale, Ark., Oklahoma City, Okla., Norman, Okla., and Fort Worth, Texas. Most recently, he was the sales director for several hotels in Knoxville.
Rickards is survived by his wife of 22 years, Maggie Jeannine Rickards; his children, Margaret Ann Rickards and Matthew Everett Rickards; his parents, James Reed Rickards and Jo Ann Cordrey Rickards of Wetumpka, Ala.; and his sisters, Terri Rickards Scheiring of Birmingham, Ala., and Traci Rickards White, also of Birmingham, Ala.
A memorial service will be held May 5, 2018, at Prince George’s Chapel in Dagsboro, Del., at 10 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at Prince George’s Cemetery.
