Margaret Mary “Peggy” Stephens Brittingham Baird, 93, passed away and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 26, 2018, in Bellingham, Wash. She was born on Nov. 23, 1924, to Elijah Washington Stephens and Florence Anna Stephens, near Dagsboro, Del.
Baird graduated in 1942 from Lord Baltimore School in Millville/Ocean View, Del. She graduated with an associate’s degree in business in 1959 from College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif. She worked at DuPont in Wilmington, Del.; at Moore Business Forms in Visalia, Calif.; and in the purchasing department at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash., from which she retired.
She enjoyed working in the flower beds — dahlias were a favorite. She enjoyed traveling and loved her family. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of Spring Creek Bible Church in Bellingham, Wash.
Baird married Russell Lewis Brittingham on Jan. 6, 1943, in Elkton, Md. They had one child, Rita Carol Brittingham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, in 1944, and her daughter in 1945.
She married Alvin Roy Baird on Aug. 29, 1948, in in Elsmere, Del., near Wilmington. They had three children, Donna, James and David. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, in 1987, and grandson, Jeffrey Land, in 1971.
Baird is survived by her daughter, Donna Land and her husband, Wes; two sons, James Baird and his wife, Susan, and David Baird; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
A graveside service was to be held May 2, 2018, at Enterprise Cemetery, Ferndale, Wash., followed by a reception at Spring Creek Bible Church.
