John E. “Jack” Meehan Jr., 83, of Ocean View, Del., passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018, in the care of his family. He was born on Aug. 5, 1934, in Bristol, Pa., to the late John E. Meehan Sr. and Teresa Marie Mosteller Meehan.
Meehan served in the U.S. Navy and then retired from the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, visiting the beach and spending time with his family. Meehan was a devoted husband, father and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, Meehan was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine S. Meehan, in 2014; a brother, Richard Meehan; and a sister-in-law, Penny Meehan. He is survived by three daughters, D. Lee Wagner and her husband, Keith, of Dover, Del., Kimberly Meehan Lindsey and her spouse, Tracy, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Joan M. Gordy and her spouse, Wade, of Felton, Del.; a brother, Michael Meehan and his wife, Bobbie, of Langhorn, Pa.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; extended family members; and numerous friends.
Inurnment was scheduled for April 13, 2018, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association; P.O.
